El pasado 04 de febrero de 2020 se publicó en el Diario Oficial de la Federación la declaratoria de protección para la denominación de origen PLUMA, la que aplica a café. Con la protección de la denominación PLUMA miles de productores de café de la región de Oaxaca podrán acceder a la identificación de sus productos con ella, lo que les permitirá posicionar mejor sus productos en el mercado y llegar a los consumidores, tanto locales como internacionales, de esta variedad de café que se nutre de las tierras oaxaqueñas.
Esperamos que, como anunció la Secretaría de Economía el pasado 11 de abril de este año, se publique en breve la NOM-255-SE-2022, la que contendrá las especificaciones, información comercial y métodos de prueba necesarios para la comercialización y obtención de la autorización de uso de la denominación de origen para el café PLUMA.
Las autorizaciones de uso de las denominaciones de origen deben ser autorizadas por el Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (IMPI) previo cumplimiento y verificación por parte del Consejo Regulador del Café Pluma. Y posterior a ello, su registro internacional ante la World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) en cumplimiento con el Arreglo de Lisboa.
Si eres productor o comercializador de café y adquieres productos de la zona de Oaxaca, seguro conoces el café PLUMA o, si aún no lo conoces, es momento que te asesores respecto a los alcances de la denominación de origen y la NOM 255; así como de la obtención de las autorizaciones de uso de la denominación de origen ante el IMPI y la WIPO, potencia tu negocio sin riesgos.

On February 4, 2020, the declaration of protection for the Appelletion of origin PLUMA was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the one that applies to coffee. With the protection of the PLUMA appellation, thousands of coffee producers in the Oaxaca region will be able to access the identification of their products with it, which will allow them to better position their products in the market and reach consumers, both local and international, of this variety of coffee that is nourished by the Oaxacan lands.
We hope that, as announced by the Ministry of Economy on April 11 of this year, NOM-255-SE-2022 will be published shortly, which shall contain the specifications, commercial information and test methods necessary for placing on the market and obtaining the authorisation of use of the appellation of origin for PLUMA coffee.
Authorizations for the use of appellations of origin must be authorized by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) prior compliance and verification by the PLUMA Coffee Regulatory Council. And after that, its international registration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) pursuant to the Lisbon Agreement.
